Have your say on GJ transportation issues

Everyone who lives in Mesa County, Colorado, has a stake in some of the transportation issues being considered in the area this month and this coming fall.

Good thing we all have a chance to tell decision makers what we think. Here are three of those issues.

7th Street, Grand Junction

As the city announced recently, officials are asking for input from us stakeholders to guide planning for extensive work on 7th Street, potentially from the Colorado River to Horizon Blvd.

The announcement said, in part:

“Through the One Grand Junction Comprehensive Plan and Grand Junction Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan, the City of Grand Junction has identified the need to continue to develop a safe, balanced, and well-connected transportation system that enhances mobility of all modes along with the importance of installing low-stress, high comfort bike facilities along the city’s active transportation corridors.”

If you haven’t already completed the questionnaire (due by July 31), go here to learn more and find out how you can provide your own feedback

Riverfront Trail route options

You also have a chance to provide your input on potential options for closing a gap in the Riverfront Trail from Clifton to Palisade. Some may think of the trail as a recreational amenity, but it is also important as an active transportation corridor. (The Smiths often pedal west through Grand Junction as well as east to Palisade, and not always for exercise.)

29 Road and I-70

You may have already heard about the desire by some to add an I-70 interchange at 29 Road, seeing as how it has been discussed for decades.

The next opportunity to provide your own input might be when you cast your ballot in November. You still have time to learn about the stakes and decide what you think of the idea. You can find some of the latest local news right here
